Checked The Apache Relay out as they’re opening for G. Love and Special Sauce tonight at Irving Plaza and was pleasantly surprised. Not that I ever have much to argue with on G. Love openers, but they’re usually hippie-ass jam bands like John Butler Trio. The guy is BFFs with Jack Johnson, after all.
That is beside the point. “Home Is Not Places” may not be especially poignant to everyone, but as someone who has moved around a lot it resonates particularly well. It’s one of those grand, made-for-arenas kind of folk rock jams that can sweep you off your feet if you let it. Looks like I’ll be showing up earlier than planned.
