Everything’s cooler in Sweden

My love of Swedish pop music is well documented on this site, but it seems like it’s been a minute since we’ve heard from the magical land of unicorns and rainbows. Newtimers are brand new to the scene (ahhh I see what they did there) and are starting to crank out some cheesy, 80s inspired electro pop. This might be a little late to the party for any kind of breakout success, but you won’t hear me complaining. “She’s a Gun” is way too much fun to ignore.

Dig on Newtimers’ SoundCloud to hear the rest of their EGO EP.

"We. Are. So. Meta."

For the umpteenth time I’ve come across a song I’d really like to post, only to find out they’re from Sweden. At first it was cute, this dawning realization of a developing taste – but now it seems it can’t be hidden from. The capital of indie/electro pop is Stockholm, without any doubt, and Palpitation is the lastest group to come out of this mecca of instant catchiness.

“We don’t need to, we don’t have to” is the first single of their recently released I’m Absent, You’re Far Away. It’s just one of those songs that immediately grabs you with tonal guitar and welcoming synth. Sweden, you just keep on doing what you’re doing.
