Ooooohhhh Yeaaaahhhhhh

Today’s Flashback Friday is a friendly, weekend-ready jam for your enjoyment. New York’s golden soul boy Samuel released this last year, the glamor0usly named “Champagne Kisses.” Backed by his Heavy Roc Music bosses The Knocks, Samuel is provind his ability as a talented performer and not just a one-offer with “I Heart NY.”

“Champagne Kisses” sounds like you would expect it to. Sexy, misty – modern dance pop driven by a disco core. It may as well have be by The Knocks feat. Samuel. Though at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. The Knocks have been doing amazing things with the artists on their Heavy Roc Music label, and the collaboration with Samuel has been very promising so far. With both of their profiles on the rise, these two can help take each other to the top.

Gaga and Beyonce, eat your heart out

NYC future-legends The Knocks have been on a tear recently. After concluding a full US tour with Ellie Goulding, they’ve dropped The Same Old Songs EP, a six-song free album of pure, viscous fun. Seems like they’ve been working with everyone, including up and coming starlet Alex Winston, whose Supremes cover is included on the EP. Also don’t forget that tasty jam they did with Samuel. Everyone loves The Knocks, and it’s easy to see why – they got the beat to make the booty go -POP-.

For those of you lucky enough to live or be in NYC this week, The Knocks are hosting a competition for tickets to a private, rooftop show in Manhattan. And yes, I’ll be throwing my hat in the ring too.

They said this pose would make me look like Bruce Springsteen

Today seemed like a fitting day to share NYC pop crooner Samuel’s 2010 anthem, “I Heart NY.” Embarrassingly enough, I have to admit that it wasn’t until watching the music video today that I realized Samuel is a white boy. Like, “I look like Mark Zuckerberg” white. You wouldn’t know it from the soulful, spirited pop this jam is cranking out. Can’t hurt that it was produced by super beat masters The Knocks.

Just one of those beautiful NYC days. The right amount of rain, the right amount of warm spring breeze that makes you feel truly alive. Hard to get much sexier than this. Swag.
