To those of you in the know, Nanna Øland Fabricius AKA Oh Land is not a new name to the scene. Her catchy-as-all-hell single “Sun of a Gun” was released last year and she’s definitely made the rounds on the blog circuit. For those of you who listened to Florence and the Machine after she was featured on that movie soundtrack, Oh Land is the next one to make the crossover.
We certainly hate to see her go, but the move seems inevitable. She doesn’t have the soaring vocal capability of a Florence Welch, but she does have a special knack for crafting polished electro pop music that looks to succeed in the way that similar artist Little Boots seemingly failed to do. Oh Land is enjoyable on a variety of layers, from fluffy fun pop on tracks like “Sun of a Gun” to more soulful, sensual songs like “Wolf & I.”
Keep an eye out for her upcoming self-titled debut album being released on March 15th. Even better news? You can listen to it streaming for free on Hype Machine.
