Gordon Voidwell and Bear Hands round out a great Brooklyn Bowl weekend

Brooklyn Bowl is such a great live music venue and they really knocked it out the park this weekend with cheap and awesome live music. Gordon Voidwell brought the hot hot sex Saturday night for the 5 dollar late night show. Calling him a poor man’s Prince is a disservice to this up and coming Bronx-born (hilariously, the Brooklyn Bowl write-up clarifies “He is NOT from Brooklyn) singer/songwriter/musician and…. fashion writer? Well rounded guy. He came out Saturday night wearing the most outrageous 80s inspired getup, complete with full band and doo wop style backup singers. Drinks were spilled, booties were shook.

While everyone chose the Oscars over real entertainment Sunday night, Bear Hands performed a FREE show at Brooklyn for Local x Local – a showcase of all things Brooklyn put on by Brooklyn Brewery. The booths were alright, some jewelry and salsa, but $4 Brooklyn Lagers and free Bear Hands put the event over the top. Bear Hands gave us a sneak peak into what might be next for them, by premiering a brand new tune for the crowd. Unfortunately I don’t have any good audio to share from it – but I’m assuming it’s called “Loving You More” and had the crowd invigorated with it’s effortless, flowing energy and flawless execution. And the new mystery song name drops ODB, Brooklyn eat your heart out. After screwing up the times for their awesome Vivo in Vino show, was really glad to catch this one.
