Oh, you....

Oh, you….

Well folks, I don’t want to get too long winded on this one. There are few things more exciting than when one of your favorite artists remixes another, scaled infinitely when it turns out absolutely perfect. Chrvches remixing MS MR, to me, falls under that categorization. And if either artist is one you haven’t heard yet, this is surely your vehicle to doing so.

HOT DAMN THIS REMIX IS AMAZING. Just had to get that out of my system.

Soul power

Soul power

Over the last year we’ve seen an extremely dynamic foundational shift in R&B as it converges on electronica in a way that hip hop has only comparatively flirted with. Brooklyn producer Arthur Ashin, known as Autre Ne Veut, has taken up the flag alongside contemporaries like Frank Ocean, Miguel and The Weeknd – moving from lo-fi experimental productions to full fledged R&B songwriting.

Loosely translated as “I Want No Other,” Autre Ne Veut’s latest album Anxiety channels wrenching, complicated emotions of disappointment and self-destruction through beautifully-layered yet dissonant electronic production, delivered in spectacular dramatic fashion. Luckily for those of us in San Francisco, we can catch him at The Independent on Monday, March 11th with openers Majical Cloudz and Bago.

You know, for once, a press photo pretty much captures it all

Ohhhh snap! After rave reviews for St. Lucia‘s six track release this year and electrifying live performances, a full length is on the way. A gem of the HeavyRoc Music and Neon Gold rosters, they’ve released a stream for “September” ahead of an album release scheduled for sometime next year. The new jam is a slow building, atmospheric dance number that’s heavier than previous tracks. There’s a serious 90s house influence here, sounding like it was pulled straight out of the Trainspotting soundtrack. Dare you not to dance.

It’s like that one Trojan commercial, with more death

It’s no secret that Electric Panda Music is a huge fan of HeavyRoc Music and their unrivaled roster of artists. Founded in New York City by B-Roc and Jpatt of The Knocks, HeavyRoc Music is on the cutting edge of the new pop sound. Although it should be no surprise, they really threw us a curveball with their latest addition, Brooklyn’s Vera Flash.

Her Facebook page describes her as an “Electronic Pop Goddess” but Electronic Pop Archangel might be a more fitting description. Her first single “Hustle” is simultaneously danceable and unsettlingly dark. Couple that with the most disturbing music video since M.I.A.’s “Born Free” and you’ve got a real buzz-worthy jam on your hands. Stream the single below or watch the music video, and head to hear fan page to download a free MP3 of the track.

Because f*** it, that's why

Alright so I don’t have any interesting info about this artist, other than I came by the song on Dingus and hot damn if this isn’t some great hip hop. As far as I know, Lil Kids is just a white rapper named Adam and his producer, Lopato, kickin’ some beats and rhymes in Brooklyn.

Oh, but don’t read too much into that whole white rapper thing. As Dingus correctly points there, there are a few Beck similarities here, along with that classic NYC production sound. They released a dope album, Slow Rainbows, in February on Bandcamp which you can download for FREE - with a new album rumored for May 30th.

That’s about all I have on this one. The album is sick. “Nobodies” is sick. That’s all I got. Follow them on Twitter and we’ll figure this out together as things move along.
