Chances are that you’re probably sick of some type of music right now. Whether it’s the folk pop overload or maybe you’re sick of electro-dancey stuff, you’re looking for something new. And experimental rock usually doesn’t cut it because let’s face it, Animal Collective et al are too esoteric, and not in the complimentary sense of the word. However, when experimental rock meets rhythm and melody you might have something new and enjoyable on your hands.
Oh hey, Black Moth Super Rainbow. This Pittsburgh based band not only has an incredible band name, but a tripped-out retro experimental rock sound to back it up. I’m hesitant to describe them as psychedelic as other outlets have done, but they do offer something edgy. Something like Cat’s Eyes with just a drop of Eagles of Death Metal. The good news is that there isn’t enough of this around to be sick of it yet, so listen on!
