Rainbow Unicorn Land (Sweden) truly is a place of wonder of majesty. Soon after writing the last post on this blog to espouse the bounding cheerfulness of Swedish musicians, went to check some background information on a (new to me) band called Acid House Kings. Retro, friendly as hell, twee pop to keep your head nodding to and fro with a giant shit-eating grin plastered across your face. They’re from Sweden, go figure. How on Earth Sweden ranks above the United States in suicide rate with this seemingly endless output of gloriously upbeat indie pop is beyond me.
To get more to the point, Acid House Kings are releasing a new album March 22nd and recently crowdsourced the selection of their latest single “Would you say stop?” on their website. It’s another lovely track from a band that seems to tug at the smile strings in just the right places. They aren’t newcomers to the scene, with a new album released every 5 years since 1992. Good time to get into them as “Music Sounds Better With You” looks to be a solid LP.
